Hell's Crossing [Full Moon Boss]

It was near midnight in Tokyo, the bustling city that never seems to sleep. All around, lights and the faces of people can be seen despite how late it was getting. Up above the people, the brightest light in the night shone high above the city. The full moon had risen, only slightly shaded by the passing clouds. The event that happened every night would soon happen once more. For the many people along the streets, it was a nonexistent idea. But for a few individuals, it was a daily battle for their lives. Tonight would be a night unlike those beforehand. As the time hit the twelve, and everything stopped, the once populated Shibuya Crossing had become merely several rows of coffins; almost in the form of a square.

High above a building, in this newfound darkness, chanting could be heard. Strange power surged, and then seemed to vanish all at once. Down below with the rows of coffins, in the center of this famous crossing area, small cracks began to form. Then, there was rumbling. The rumbling was followed by more cracks that seemed to grow in size as it continued. Then, fissures began to open up until there was a single large fissure within the center of the crossing. A dark reddish glow seemed to permeate from its depths. It was followed by a low roar that seemed to get closer every time it was repeated. Heavy thumps could be hear soon.

Rattle Rattle. . .

Then came the rattling of chains. And soon, the temperature in the area seemed to rise significantly. One last roar came. And soon, a large three-headed dog that seemed to come right out of mythology reared its head out of the fissure. Only half of its body seemed to be out of the fissure at this point. Its front legs were shackled by strange, flesh-like chains that seemed to continue down into the fiery pits of where it came from. Though only half of its body was outside of the fissure, the three heads and its upper body easily took up the space of the crossing. Each head seemed to be the size of a small house. There would be no telling how big it would be if it managed to get all the way out. The large demon let out a loud roar that seemed to reach the entirety of the slumbering city of Tokyo.

[Kate Minola]

Kate was trying to hurry to make it to Yoyogi before the 'dark' hour, intending to investigate the presence of demonic fairies a little deeper by witnessing the event from its beginning. However, she'd overslept and now she'd missed her chance. She was in downtown Shibuya when the world shifted and people started to turn into coffins.

She always got very unsettled by the event and the change it brought to the world. She actually stopped walking and looked upwards. The moon was shining brightly and absently she thought it looked gorgeous up there and deceptively calm.

Then she heard the roar. In fact, it went right through he, rattling her to the bone and making her shrink and shiver. She startled and looked around, trying to pinpoint where it came from.

Whatever that is... it sounds big. Real big.

She started to move towards the source of the noise and experienced a very negative sensation, like she was walking into an area of heavy humidity and condensation - except instead of water it was a feeling of the air being over-saturated with... well, bad stuff. That was the only way she could describe it.

She finally reached Shibuya Crossing... and just about lost her monitor. There was a big honking monster in the middle of the crossing - it was bloody Cerberus! The guardian of the realm of the dead in Grecian myth. And it looked like it was stuck in a hole in the ground and it sounded pissed.

But Kate got the impression that it was just like what she'd fought before, just bigger and nastier. She looked around her a little desperately. Surely enough, she saw movement among the coffins and in the stillness. Others were coming. This thing had to be put down. She studied it from afar for a moment and then decisively she unhooked her bow from her shoulder and opened her quiver. She summoned her Persona and prepared herself.

Fire would not do, she reasoned. This thing was coming from a fiery pit. She'd have to try something else. An experimental arrow shot would have to do for a start.

[Lucretia Odovacar]

Lucretia had just finished getting dressed for her now near nightly excursion into the midnight world.  She always made sure to time it so that it would leave about 20 seconds after she got dressed and gathered her things before the midnight world would come to be.  Once the world changed, she summoned her persona to do her usual scout for anomalies.  Normally she didn't see anything interesting, just the occasional demon cat or something, but this time she felt something enormous.  Something so great that it dwarfed the feeling she got when she sensed the dinosaur in the museum.  She wasn't sure if the others could do the same, so as she ran to the area the creature was she sent out a message to everyone in her range.

"Be careful, there is a strong creature in the city.  If you are able please come to Shibuya Crossing so we can defeat it.  It will likely take a large group based on what I can see, so if you have any allies nearby please tell them too."

She didn't head straight for the location.  Once the warning was out, she used the strange blonde woman's magic train to go to a few other areas to send out the message again.  She didn't want to take too long though, it was important that she not arrive too long after any of the others.  After all, as far as she could tell she had the best analysis ability and was one of the better healers.  It was important that she be there before the action began.

Lucretia could sense some people nearby, but it looked like she managed to beat most of the crowd.  She picked a spot behind a nearby building to hide since she didn't actually intend to attack that thing.  It probably wouldn't do much considering how terrible her offensive ability was.  For now, she would just analyze the thing and see what she could learn.

A night like any other... jacob somewhat sleepily looked out the window. As fate would have it, tonight was one of the nights he stayed up late to study the dark hour. He looked up at the full moon, illuminating the night sky. In many cultures, a full moon was an ill omen. It was a factoid he had picked up from all the searching he had done to link the demons of the dark world to their proper names. Stll, such was probably just another facet of mythology, to be disregarded as superstition.

And then... the inevitable freezing of time began. The dark hour was upon Jacob. there was the usual change of tone in the world, and yet, something seemed different. At first, all seemed relatively normal. But then... Jacob heard something in the distance. It was a cracking sound, as if something was bashing through the street. And then he saw it, a reddish glow, from the direction of shibuya crossing.

And then, he heard a familiar italian-accented voice in his head. It confirmed a worrying amout of activity at shibuya crossing. Jacob, of course, was already getting set to move there. A creature of such size was not something he'd wish anyone to stand against alone. He was going to assist however he could, in whatever feeble way that would no-doubt be.

And so he limped towards Shibuya crossing. Chtuga leaving a trailing flame behind him. Upon his approach, he began moving with a lighter step. He could see the warrior women from before, firing away with her bow. And so he decided to share his lightness with her. Chtuga screamed a wordless sound, and the chains of earthly burden fell away from Kate's ankles.

[Mitsuki]

Mitsuki knew the dark hour was going to happen again tonight. She picked her gun, her vest and went out. It was a beautiful full moon tonight, but when the dark hour happened it was more creepy then anything. Somehow she didn't encounter many shadows when waltzing through the city. That's when she received a message from one of the girls at the meeting, she heard it before at the museum this way too. If this thing was anything like the voice told her this could be trouble. She headed there immediately. The sooner she got there the better.

Looks like she was right to come there. The heads of the beast were amazingly big. If that thing comes out Tokyo might be goners. Let's take it down before it has that chance. She ran closer the other fighters. The three headed beast was even larger from up here. "Hathor!" She shouted and the strange creature that was called a persona on the meeting came forth. Using A new ability she wanted to test on the enemy's right head.

[Ringo Shiro]

Ringo arrived on to the scene. Suffice to say, it was hard to ignore a giant three headed dog in the middle of Shibuya. It was at this point Ringo wished he had a much bigger knife. However, that didn't matter at the moment. It seemed other Persona users have arrived on the scene. Some he recognized from the monster plant incident. He took a deep breathe and summoned his Persona.

"Rama!" Rama appeared as well as his golden bow and arrow. He readied an arrow and then launched a shot over toward one of the eyes on the center head. The least he could do is attract its attention.

[Yumina Makino]

Well damn. Yumina heard the warning that this creature would be powerful, but the sight of it still managed to make her jaw drop in terror. The monster had to be the largest one yet, at least as far as the one's she personally saw. This wasn't even his entire body, part of it waited behind in that hole. Obviously this fight had to end before it pulled itself out all the way. The beast could probably squish half of the people here with its paws.

Yumina crossed her arms in an effort to conceal how badly she was shaking. Most likely she'd have to get up close to that thing in order to stab it. She just couldn't right now. It look terrifying enough from a distance. Her usual confidence faded, and would need a minute to recover. She took a few deep breaths, and tried to act like this was the same as any other monster she'd faced. "Y-you're not going to beat us, dammit."

With those words she summoned her Persona to at least do something for right now. Oberon had too many useless skills that rarely worked on a good day. This wasn't the time to take any chances. The one spell they could rely on would weaken the enemy, and give their side a better chance of wrapping this up quickly. Whatever attacks this shadow dog used would hurt a lot, but with this spell the group wouldn't take as much damage.

Akira had, conveniently, been in the area when midnight hit. It wasn't that he had been aware of the situation that was about to play out, but, rather, that he was planning on hunting in the area when the world warped. It didn't take a sonar to pick up on the disturbance that soon followed. Like the battle with the ogre in the park, the appearing enemy was excessively powerful, to the point that his insides quivered. His Persona, in a way, resonated, as though to warn the boy. There wasn't all that much he could do about it, though. If something nasty appeared, those with the capabilities to address them had to do just that. And he was one of the ones that had to help the meatier hitters. After all, that was all he would likely be good for when it got right down to it.

He summoned Hayagriva and rode on closer to the disturbance. The youth was dressed for the occasion of warfare, at the very least. Of the boots, jeans, and vest, everything he wore was pretty “simple” in nature. Standard fare until he got proper combat gear together. Once he arrived, he gave a quiet whistle. Yep. For something with that sort of “presence”, he didn't really suppose that size was unexpected. Still. A three-headed dog? They really were going through all the generic devices. Corner run-ins, red string of fate, generic Greek dogs. He felt less like he was going through a traumatic incident and more like he was walking through someone's brainchild- a bastardized brainchild pieced together with all the tropes of popular media in the past two decades.

That wasn't to say that he was entirely at ease, of course. In reality, he had to admit that he was, on some level, worried. Afraid, even. But that was nothing new. Unfortunate occurrences could always occur on any single one of his outings, be it in the normal world, during that additional hour, or in that hidden world. The engagement with the ogre was only more stressful than the average bout. This one? Well, it was worse than the ogre, but he'd manage. He'd managed that far, so it was only a given that he'd persevere. There were people waiting on his return back home, once that hour ended, after all.

”Can't say I can confidently claim I can heal everybody here, given these numbers, but I'll do what I can as needed.” Whether he was thinking aloud or announcing his role was irrelevant. He spoke the words aloud. Fortunately, the enemy had yet to attack. That meant it was time to test the enemy's resistances. Even if he couldn't deal a lot of damage compared to the others, the information would serve a degree of use. Though he was also worried about those chain-things. They were. . . keeping that monster back, weren't they? Either way, he rode in despite the dangers, swinging the blade of his halberd at the center head and curving back towards the group. No need to stick unnecessarily close to the giant devil dog, after all.

[Frederick Cooper]

Fred was actually trying to sleep in his hidden love nest that evening. When midnight hit, all was well! Up until bad things happened. Like being awakened by a case of hell cooties. Flopping about with a strange set of “Bwuhbuh?” sounds, the large man got up and grabbed his ax, thinking something was going on. If he had hair on his chest, it'd likely have been standing on end. Well, either way, seemed like something bad was going on, so, grabbing his cap and slipping on some sandals, he scurried on out of the cafe, only to waggle that battle ax around in the air! And nothing was outside of the shop. Still, things felt too wrong to go back to sleep. Or to go put on a shirt. Or pants. Therefore, Frederick, in naught but his cap, boxers, and sandals, headed on towards the glowing blue train system.

Though he did fall asleep during the ride. And was effectively kicked out of the train car upon arriving at the location. With a bit of flopping and rolling, the man sleepily yawned and skipped along towards the source of the annoying feeling. And, lo and behold, the mother of all bullshit RPG things was there! A three-headed dog. Seriously, what the hell. Why was a cerberus there? He seriously would have gone back to bed if not for the fact that he saw others there. He would have felt bad about leaving them there to fight the Doggy Doom. With a sigh, he made his way towards the group, seemingly not bothered by the fact that he was, in fact, only wearing his boxers. And cap and sandals.

”Right then.” He half-mumbled to himself before summoning Zouchouten. ”Guess I'll fight, too.” A quiet sigh escaped him. Honestly, he was less afraid and more annoyed. It was probably because he was half-asleep. Or because his hatred of RPGs was real. Just like the struggle. Either way, Zouchouten flew forward and performed an ax kick on the center head of the Doggy Doom!

[Amane Mana]

Amane looked at her shinai. Yup, this wasn't exactly going to cut it anymore. Especially when there is a giant three headed dog at the Shibuya crossing. She was torn between relieved that this wasn't the strangest thing she encountered and being horrified by the size. It was a good thing her Persona was by no means a close combat type and that they're already people giving it attention. 

"Here goes." Amane was to the side of the dog. If she were to strike now while mostly everyone else attacked ala the front, she could have the advantage and give it a few wounds before hiding and attacking else where. "Bufu." Her eyes glowed and Silky appeared to launch a shard of ice at the side of the dog.

[Ariane Ivers]

It had become something of a routine for Anne to patrol the area near her home during the dark hour. Usually she stuck closer to home, learning everything she could about the shadows there to best keep them in check. Of course she had inspected a few further areas as well since focusing solely on one area wouldn't give her nearly as much information, but it was close and easy. At the very least it provided the best practice grounds. As had become usual, she was dressed in her snazzy magical leather jacket over a black tank top and jeans that were tucked into her now-worn heavy boots.

Waiting for the night to begin, she hadn't expected it to be anything out of the norm. And why should she have? Other than being absolutely nonsense, it seemed to be the same deal night after night. Ariane should have expected for shit to hit the fan at any moment. As soon as the moon turned it's usual sickly hue, she felt her heart drop in her chest and her stomach begin to churn. Something was not right, and it couldn't've been to far from here, either.

As though to at credence to the awful feeling, she heard the familiar─if still a tad creepy to hear it in her head─voice informing everyone in the area that something was certainly happening. Cracking her knuckles, she made haste towards the that train. Even if she was close, whatever was happening couldn't afford to wait on her to run there.

Once off of the train, it wouldn't have taken a rocket scientist to figure out what all of the hullabaloo was about. Giving a full bodied shiver underneath her leather jacket, she gawked at the creature ahead of her. Even with all of the messed up things she had fought thus far, a main figure out of mythology like that was not something she ever expected to see. She had to admit, the sheer heat that radiated off of it terrified her.

Still, she couldn't just abandon the rest of them because of her own phobia. There were quite a few familiar faces, and even a few unfamiliar, now that she looked around; not that it would have made a difference. She had already resigned to stop running, and this was no exception. It didn't stop her from grimacing sharply, giving an angry growl of "Of course there had to be fire. Why wouldn't there be."

Attempting to shake it off, she focused on drawing her Evoker and pulling it to her head. The familiarity of it helped ease her nerves, and as soon as the Hind was summoned she felt heaps more calm. She wasn't alone, anyway. She could do this. They could do this, surely. After the Cerynitian Hind materialized, Ariane felt her muscles loosen up again, and she rolled her shoulders once before dashing in.

Holy gods that thing was even bigger up close. Trying to push that thought out of her mind, she focused on landing her punches─left, right, right-straight. After hitting what looked like it might have hurt, although how the hell could she tell on a creature that big, she jumped as far back out as she could. Trying to put more distance between her and the creature before it finally inevitably decided to retaliate, Anne looked cautiously around the area. While she hoped they would be left to pummel the big pooch back down through the hole it was trying to crawl up from, she had a sneaking suspicion things wouldn't work out that way. They never worked out that way.

Tristan wasn't ready for anything. He had went to bed for that night, convinced that he could just wait until tomorrow to find out something or murder it. Either way, it didn't matter. He was out almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.

He woke up with a start- something, no, everything was going wrong. As soon as he realized this, he heard Lucretia's voice in his head. Shit, he thought as he pulled himself out of bed. So much for my beauty sleep. He quickly gathered his equipment and rushed outside.

The monster that he saw was nothing like anything he had faced before. Fucking Cerberus? He didn't know whether to be amazed or horrified. He was too tired to really decide on anything at the moment, other than the fact that Hercules would have been a far more fitting Persona. He could tell fire wouldn't do well against the dog, and he doubted darkness would do much better. As he thought that, he felt something inside of his head. He had gotten used to the routine, so he summoned Odysseus.

The Greek warrior immediately boosted his master's speed, but it had something else in store. He raised his hand towards the mutt and Tristan felt the dog become more vulnerable. "Darkness should work now, if it didn't before," he shouted to the others. He hoped he could do enough to actually be useful to the group, but he was sure that he had a fair start.

Why did this sort of thing always seem to happen at the most inopportune time? Takumi was in no mood to be going out and fighting another fight. The last one left him in such a terrible state that he had no will to continue this crappy job. And yet, here he was, making his way over towards the strange sensation. That sensation managed to lead him over to that cross-way. And, oh look. People. And a dog. Well, Takumi never considered killing a dog. He wasn't sick in the head. But for whatever reason it may have been, he felt like putting this dog down. It may have been the ominous fissure it was crawling out of, the the fleshy chains, the fact that everyone else was attacking it, or the fact that the dog had three heads and was reminiscent of the guardian of Hades.

As he ran into the fray, he made note of the people who were here. He would be doing a bit of guessing this time around, but he imagined this thing could put out fire attacks. Thanks to that scanner girl, Takumi had a complete list of the resistances and weaknesses of most of the people present. If she scanned them, he knew what they were weak against. The boy managed to commit these to memory for such a fight like this. It was no use protecting people, only to find out everyone you protected was resistant to those attacks in the first place. He could only protect two people at a time, unfortunately. But if he could protect them from extremely powerful attacks, his job would have been accomplished.

He noted two people who he knew were weak against fire. One would have been Riki, the other being the redhead. He would be protecting these two this turn. As far as he knew, there were two others with healing capabilities on the field other than him. He was about to take one hell of a beating, but if he was right, he might have just saved people from getting his for much worse. He activated his barrier and braced himself for the attack.

The sudden surge of energy at the center of Shibuya made his head hurt. It throbbed in response to the pulses of the hellgate that sprung at the Crossing... oh wait, no it didn't; it was just the after-effects of tripping on his feet as he ran here. Something always seemed to happen, apparently, both with him and the world around him, during this hour. However, this was not normal from what he could tell; the moon was completely round, edgeless, and without an imperfection in its shape. It was a full moon, and many things tended to happen during full moons. For instance, mental people were more likely to act up and werewolves turned into werewolves.

As crazy as that last part seemed, this creature emerging from this hole was canine in nature. Three heads, chained up... you know, this looked kind of like Cerberus, gatekeeper of the Underworld. This was actually kind of cool. This would probably be his first encounter with a real Demon, as described in one of those packets. He had to be ready, though knowing the legends of Cerberus, his intelligence would be about the same as the average, aggressive, overly-obsessive dog... hopefully.

Yuuki pointed his bone bokken at the creature, which released a dark gas around it. Let's see if his new toy would do anything worthwhile to it.

Luka was already prepped and ready to go out on her usual hunting tour when it happened. It started off as a strange feeling that something bad was going to happen. At that point, she simply ignored it and continued her hunt. It soon grew into an urge to head towards the source. Luka eventually found herself running towards an odd feeling that could only be described as instinct. She even went and hitched a ride with the strange blonde woman to get to the place faster. It would be no good if she arrived to a fight out of breathe. After all, she knew in her mind she was heading towards a fight.

That feeling led her to a strange beast and several other people she had fought with in the past few weeks. Was this the battle she had been dreading all this time? The feeling that they were only preparing for something stronger? She was sure of it. Pulling out her red steel blade, Luka jumped into the action and began to slice at the large creature without worry of its size. She wondered how far that fall would have been if she were to go into that fissure. Honestly, wasn't this thing that three-headed dog thing from Rome or whatever it was called? She couldn't think of the place, but this was that big dog that's from the underworld. Did that big hole lead all the way down there!? That's honestly a bit scary. Would it be possible to simply. . . push it back into the hole? Somehow, she didn't think it would be wise to try.

Also, was this beast trying to leave the fissure? The chains seemed to be holding it back, preventing it from exiting. Looking around, she spotted several familiar people. This was going to be an all-out battle, wasn't it? Everyone seemed to be managing something else for this battle. She had the wonderful job of taking this thing on with her bare weapons. She had a feeling her sword would be the best choice for the fight. If Lulu managed to find something else out about its weaknesses or resistances, she could always change styles. She had a feeling this enemy would hit hard. If that was the case, she would be gritting her teeth.
