Post by Yuuki Honda on Apr 17, 2015 5:22:06 GMT
Name: Yuuki Honda
Age: 17
Date of Birth: December 7th
Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Face Claim: Persona 5 MC from Persona 5
Appearance:
Height: 5'10"
Distinguishing Features: He has a scar on the side of his body from the car accident. A bandage is wrapped around his body as he's still recovering.
Class: Persona-User
Arcana: Death
Occupation: Student, Ex-Professional Pianist
Starting Equipment: He snatched a carbon shinai (strike, level 1) from the kendo club room after deciding to investigate the Dark Hour. To him, it's just a stick to defend himself with. To whom he stole it from, it was a ¥30,000 investment. Poor kid.
Personality:
Surprisingly, he's rather down to earth for someone who barely qualifies as a celebrity. As a simple pianist and composer, he doesn't have to maintain a sort of character that threatens to distort his true identity. However, it can be imagined that even if he was someone else, his demeanor would stay the same. Yuuki is respectful, and is quick to offer a smile to anyone. He's also a true gentleman, who isn't afraid of taking time away from his own work to interact with his growing number of fans. It's hard for him to make long-lasting friends with, so he enjoys the short-lived company of admirers. From small bits of advice to a whole day of fun, this young man does not limit his accessibility to others. He's a man for the people.
Before the accident, whenever he was not sleeping, eating, studying, performing, or hanging out with his supporters, he worked. He worked all the time, recording on his own or hitting his head on a piece of paper to make notes magically appear. The word 'workaholic' is applicable here; he put his all into his work because he both loved it and it's kind of the only thing he saw himself as being good at. Though he was humble about it, inside of him burned a fire that could not be extinguished, a passion that wouldn't stop... passioning.
That was before the crash.
Now, although he still maintains a cheery face and a polite way of speaking and acting, he doesn't really feel true 'joy' with how he is at any point in time. He feels like a grocery bag without any groceries inside; without full use of his right hand and especially without the ability to do what he has been doing for the past three years, he can't help but feel emptiness within himself. Thus, his perception of his own self worth has decreased dramatically, almost to the point where he'd accept just dying. The only reason he's still standing is the pursuit to find something else in this life that he can enjoy as much as the piano.
In regards to his studies, Yuuki might be just a little bit of a slacker. Now that he is in school more often, this is even more visible than it was before. He's not one for homework, and he dozes off in class as he suddenly comes up with ideas for his impressive melodies. Very often will he answer with a simple smile and a shrug when he's asked about the content of the lesson that had just occurred half of an hour ago.
Even before the accident, it's always in his gut to try and play any piano that he sees. He appreciates the diversity of sounds that come from different brands and kinds of keyboard instruments and pianos. He is in a hint of denial, as now that he's lost efficient function of his right hand, any key that's touched by it tends to be a discord. Stubbornly, he would continue playing it as if nothing was wrong as it becomes more and more obvious that he'll always play like crap. Then, he'll just break down or walk away so that he won't break down in front of the others.

History:
Honda Yuuki's parents weren't at all experienced with the musical arts, and they weren't blessed with the musical ability that their son possesses. At the age of three, he expressed interest in the piano in their living room that was used merely as decoration. He'd repeat note fragments that he had heard before, prompting them to hire a tutor for him. This led into them finding out that their son was what the tutor had called a 'piano prodigy'. Obvious enough, Yuuki also liked playing the piano. He would continue for the next nine years before he was caught by a talent scout during a fairly large recital.
At that point, he pushed himself to reach the level of other piano players of his league, not wanting to be one of those 'dime-a-dozen' prodigies that probably had no real drive to play the piano in the first place. His skill and dedication pushed him from having a small gathering on the internet up to a point where anyone who knows his work knows what he looks like and, therefore, recognizes him if he stepped out into the street. At that point, he had started began writing his own music as well, starting from simple modifications upon already-existing musical pieces (which were never released or played in public) to writing complete scores using blank sheets.
He didn't really care too much about his fame, though his constant pressure upon himself to better himself as an artist only shot him up in popularity by the millions. Though by no means an international sensation, he has seen invitations to perform in places like the US and Korea to establish fanbases there. But, they all conflicted with a very big performance in his home prefecture, which required much preparation and time. It was to be the biggest he has ever done yet.
A week and a half later, he was in the passenger's seat of a taxi, nervous for the success of this night's concert. His fingers visibly twitched to the rhythm of pieces in his set list, and he shivered at the thought of playing the wrong note during the climax of a specific song. This tension can be contrasted with the utterly relaxed nature of his driver. He was too relaxed, in fact, that his hands slipped from the wheel and his face slammed down on the horn. His feet weighed down on the acceleration pedal, and the taxi cap crashed straight into a concrete pillar. He died right before the clock on his watch chimed for '12:00AM'.
However, Yuuki was awake. Bleeding and severely injured, he crawled out of the wreckage. Around him were these large coffins in the middle of the street. A single creature roamed, as if hunting. He made a single, but suppressed grunt. Its masked face snapped towards his position and made a sickening laugh. It made movements towards him, making a ten yard distance rather short. Then, its blackened claws struck out at him. After that was the clang of metal, the rending of flesh, and darkness. The last figure he saw was the backside of an armored man.
He awoke again, this time to the loud beeping of a hospital monitor. It was a miracle that he survived the crash. The drowsy man looked for a clock, and noticed the time: 1:00AM. How strange. It felt like a little more. Perhaps he was dead. Yuuki fell to the grips of sleep again.
Once more, he woke up. An IV was stuck to his arm, and he finally realized that he wasn't just dead. He felt around his body for any stitched-up wounds. Nothing. He felt fine. Actually, he couldn't feel anything. Odd. Yuuki raised his right hand up and moved it around. It twitched, but not in the movement that he was hoping for. Not only that, but he couldn't feel the fan that was on the side table. It was fine, he thought. It would go away. The doctors spoke about his hand and confirmed that its motor functions were impaired due to an incomplete spinal cord injury. But, it felt fine when they came by! How could he take their words seriously?
A week later (which is rather miraculous), he was released from the hospital. He had missed his concert. But, not to worry! At least he can still play the piano, right? In his home, Yuuki opened up the piano and began to play the first piece on the top of his head. The opening bars were fine, his hands lifting and dropping to the rhythm and melody of the music. After a minute, though, he heard his first discord. Then, a second. Then, a third. All of the notes being played with his right hand were coming out wrong.
He left no word to his producer, but the producer came to him and learned of this injury while he was asleep the day the incident struck. It was the producer that came to him, telling him that he had cancelled every single one of his future events, and that the company had let him go. Yuuki could only give him a smile and a wave as he left, but he fell into a catatonic state for that day and the day after. His parents had trouble trying to feed him as he refused to come out of his room.
It took about another week for him to return to completely normal faculties save for his hand... at least, it was thought that was the case. By then, he returned to a school that he would sporadically attend between periods of busywork. Things were normal, and totally dull. This dullness and idleness dug deep in the young man's mind, and he hid away after class. For the whole day, he hid, trying to wrap his mind around this new life of his. His eyes were always upon a nearby clock. When its hour hand and minute hand shared the number '12', it halted. The skies grew a pale greenish color, and the moon hung over the skies like a colliding astral body. This wasn't a hallucination, was it? Could this day become any worse?
From a window, he noticed movements. These shapes were masked, similar to the one that appeared after his accident. He couldn't help but feel threatened by them, and he grabbed the closest shinai he could find. The only goal in his mind was to leave and go home. Amateurish with his movements, he wasn't quick enough to evade the attention of one of them. It was a small one however, and its puddle-like form made it sluggish enough to run past. Yuuki froze with fear, but something resounded within him, like another being was speaking to him, supporting him. A floating card hovered in front of him, and he instinctively shattered it with a flick of his right wrist.
The familiar knight stood in front of him, between the blob thing and the newly-awakened Persona User. He smiled and spoke one word:
"Persona."
And he managed to live through his second encounter with the Shadows.
