Name: Takumi Fujioka
Age: 20
Date of Birth: May 31st
Birthplace: Tokyo, born and raised.
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Face Claim: Naofumi Iwatani - Tate no Yuusha Nariagari
Appearance:
Height: 5'9"
Distinguishing Features: His body is free of any oddities or scars to a point where he seems to be completely unscathed. He never seems to smile and seems to default at an annoyed expression.
Class: Persona-user
Arcana: Star
Occupation: Cashier and part-time college student.
Starting Equipment: A level 1 shield. It doesn't actually do damage, but he still uses it.
Personality: Takumi gives off the vibe of someone who could really care less if the world ended a day from now and took everyone with it as a result. The kind of guy that seems to hate humans as a whole. The kind of person who would probably be better off living in a secluded area without need for human interaction. Just a complete grump in the making. While a lot of these things could be argued, there's much more to him than a young man who can only feel hatred. He's not-so-grump.
First and foremost, Takumi is someone who likes to think things through to a logical degree. His thorough financial planning is evident of this. Even by working as a simple cashier, his spending and careful investments have allowed him to slowly build up money for retiring. He is a man who only plans as a means to an end. He does not plan to take up a career, to hold a steady job, or to make an honest living. Instead, he only uses his planning abilities to take the easiest and laziest road in life. He seems to lack any regret for this decision in life; instead he embraces it as the right thing for him. Since he doesn't have any responsibilities aside from his well-being; no female companion, kids, or otherwise, he finds his choice responsible at the very least. Needless to say, he still has a fully functioning conscience.
It is this conscience that probably keeps him from truly being akin to a heartless demon. If he can help it and doesn't inconvenience him too much, he will do the right thing. The difficulty does not matter to him of course, as he can simply figure out what he needs to do. And while that still sounds a bit selfish, there are often occasions where he will go out of his way to help someone, ignoring the most logical choice. It is this part of him that he tries to defer at every chance he gets as he deems this part of him to be illogical and weak. He holds this part of him to possibly be his inevitable downfall as all it takes is a single spur-of-the-moment choice to undo all of his hard work.
Even so, small acts of kindness seem to spill out of him every day whether he chooses to realize it or not. This is only supplemented by the fact that he has a pet that he refuses to stop taking care of. The most important thing to keep in mind though is that these good deeds are not the most prevalent display by him. Takumi is often seen with a dissatisfied expression everyday whether at work or in his free time. While he keeps his thoughts to himself most of the time, he will speak freely when he feels the need to. And when he does, he doesn't hold back. This seems to be in part due to his analytic nature. As he interacts with people, he notes all of the admirable and all the trashy features about them mentally. All of this information is stored and rated within his head to evaluate each person and determine just how worthwhile they are.
Trash will be trash and get thrown away as such in his mind. He tends to simply ignore these types of people. Conversely, he will keep in touch with reliable people, if only as a means to his goals. Even if they have troublesome personalities, it is the results that he looks for. It is only when the person becomes a detriment that he chooses not to deal with them. He does this without remorse or any real feeling of loss. This is in part due to his charismatic nature. Takumi is someone who has never struggled with speaking, whether it be in small groups, one on one, or in front of crowds. This has been something he has excelled at since he was young. Quite frankly, he is a natural born leader. The only issue is that he chooses to be a loner and only associates with people when necessary. Such is the issue when you are presented with the need to rely on others for offensive power.
Takumi finds his Persona's complete lack of offense to be a mental burden that occupies his mind whenever it slips into his thoughts. The fact that he was quite strong offensively and defensively before getting a Persona annoys him constantly. He finds hi situation where he needs to rely on others regrettable, but tries to make the best of it nonetheless by focusing on his strengths to get the job done as best he can.
Likes: Enjoys tinkering with electronics and inventing. Has successfully made toys before and continues to do so. He is also quite proficient in everyday chores and seems to enjoy sewing. Small and cute animals seem to be a favorite of his whether they be cats, dogs, pigs, foxes, or something exotic. If possible he will pet them and often give a more relaxed expression than usual while doing so. Finally, his favorite and seemingly least redeeming quality would be the enjoyment he receives from watching those who he does not like fail. Other than that, Takumi enjoys seeing a plan following through and receiving results as anticipated. He is a thinker at heart.
Dislikes: Takumi seems to have a distaste for most people, but they can be summed up as anyone who arrogantly believes they have the whole world figured out, anyone who is a detriment to his ideals or cause, trashy people in general, and people who seem to radiate ignorance. Though concise, he seems to categorize most people into at least one of these. Other than people in general, he hates his job very much given it is the place where he has to deal with said people. These are things he has an honest distaste for. Meanwhile, he doesn't hate people that have simply annoying personalities, but he could certainly do without them. Finally, he has a strong distaste for injustice. Whether or not he can do anything about it, injustice seems to grind him up inside no matter the victim. Unless they are a trashy person, of course. Karma is a bitch.
History: Young Takumi's journey began in the most anti-climatic of ways. It doesn't take any drastic turns and is simply a nearly straight line with a slight curvature to it. It is this constant curvature and the direction that curve took that turned Takumi into the crooked individual that he is. He was the product of an average-looking couple born from average families who worked average jobs while living in an average home in middle-class Ikebukuro. Early life for him was normal but happy. His parents didn't fight, they weren't financially unstable, and Takumi got what he wanted, within reason. Eventually, he even got two younger brothers that he would never really get close to. Honestly, he never got that close to anyone in his family. Sure, he loved them all the same, but they weren't people he would turn to for advice. Possibly because he never seemed to ever want any.
While starting from average beginnings from average parents, Takumi was something one would call slightly above average. Only slightly because while he has his talents, he had his downfalls. The boy was a smooth talker. Not in the sense that one would use to get out of trouble, mind you. He was awful at that. The boy had a very eloquent way of speaking for his age and came off as rather humble. He often tried to resolve dilemmas so that it would work out the best for everyone. Often times, he would keep his personal prejudice aside in order to keep things neutral. He was a natural negotiator and speaker. His grades were often in the higher end of his class as well. These were all the traits of an exceptional child, but it was his other traits that led to the boy he is today.
The boy never seemed to smile at much of anything. He always seemed to have his eyes set a bit higher than what he was capable of and found himself disappointed. Other than that, he always seemed to be thinking over troublesome things that a kid shouldn't worry about. He wondered why people fought, why terrible things happened around the world, why injustice happened, and so forth. He spent his time thinking about such depressing things at an early age that he never really spent his early life socializing or having much fun. This wouldn't affect his grades of course, and at least give him a sense of relief for himself in the future. But he was not worried about himself, but of everyone around him. He wanted to see the well-being of others.
As he progressed through school up into early high school, the boy had found something that he felt strongly about. Politics was something he had strong skills in. He was a very good speaker, he knew how to argue, and he felt strongly about the things he needed to talk about. It was the perfect job for him, he thought. All it took was a few years of high school to change that around. The boy joined debate teams, special groups, and even got himself into a special program with the best of the best from Japan. He learned many things ranging from touching upon various emotions in a person to making an argument seem flawless. He was very quickly becoming a master at the art. But it was at this point that the boy learned a very hard truth as he went. He learned how to manipulate people less educated in a subject with fear and anger tactics. He learned how easily people could be manipulated to believe the complete opposite of a simple truth. Not only did this apply in politics, but in everyday life. But it didn't end there. He had learned the worst part of it all, and discovered why so many awful things occurred in the world. Every person who was told the wrong thing can and will regurgitate the wrong information. They wouldn't bother looking up the facts behind it all. He learned that everyday issues in the world are born from the ignorance of the everyday citizen. It was this that turned the boy off of politics just as he was exiting high school and ended up forfeiting any future in such a disgusting job.
That boy who was never really happy in the first place only got a bit worse. He stopped going out of his way to help people so much and started turning a blind eye whenever possible. He simply felt the effort was a waste. Even if he helped someone out, they wouldn't learn the root of the problem and prevent it from happening. They would just be calling for help a little later over the same preventable problem. Never again did he put effort into trying to convince people of his view on things unless they seemed competent enough mentally. Often times though, the ones that wanted to argue were the worst of the worse. It was ignorance he saw from everyday individuals that bothered him the most. Slowly, the young man simply began to hate people as a whole and grew into a pessimistic hollow shell. He started smiling even less than he did already.
Even so, the man had a plan cooking up in his head as he sat there loathing nearly everything he saw. He decided to simply live his life in an ignorance of his own away from all the issues normal people had to face. He could do it just fine, but it would take some work. He took up a part time job and enrolled in college to see if there was something interesting he could learn. His parents mostly covered everything for him, but the money he got from his job could be put towards his goals. All he needed was a large sum of money that he could invest to keep a steady living without needing to work for the rest of his life. That's just what he did, too. Over the next few years, the boy began saving money, got himself his own apartment, and tried to spend as little as he could. In the mean time, he would attend college classes for the heck of it. Apparently it paid off.
Takumi found an interest in messing with electronics, circuits, and basic engineering tools. In short, he began messing around with tools and basic materials and began making simple gadgets and toys. Just another talent to add to his list of abilities, but something to keep himself occupied for his eventual ascent into hermitage. He decided to stay in college just to continue his learning before moving out into seclusion. His plan after gathering enough money was to essentially buy a house in the countryside and live out his life on invested money that he would get regular returns from. As of age 20, everything has worked out so far. It is only the incident that came up recently that seeks to threaten his plans.
On an average day, in his average apartment in middle-class Ikebukuro, all his electronics stopped working and the busy nightlife outside came to a halt. It was an eerie sensation that he had never experienced before. Looking outside to the coffin-clad streets of his hometown, the boy eventually mustered the courage to go outside wielding a baseball bat. In the worst case scenario, he had a rather good swinging arm and could run pretty fast. He was pretty sure he could protect himself from anything except guns. What would follow would come to be the most unexpected development he had ever heard of.
In Takumi's mind, he figured this was something out of a shounen manga where he was the protagonist. It started out with the cliché scenario in which the young protagonist is faced with basic monster enemies that he has to defeat. After being cornered and helpless, a strange deity would come to his rescue; likely a cute little girl who looks way too young to be as old as she claims. Instead, he got the entity known simply as 'Slime' that began to speak in some odd tongue but otherwise did nothing. Instinctively, Takumi knew that this was the entity he was waiting for, as boring as it was. Trying the bat again, he found his swings to be a lot less powerful than before. He was quickly consumed by the shadows and his life came to an end. Or not.
The attacks of these small fry seemed to hurt a lot less than before as well. Takumi felt more durable and even a lot more agile. But why did he feel like his offense suffered so much? With quick thinking, the boy grabbed a trashcan lid and made a dash for his apartment while avoiding attacks. From there, he spent the night carefully watching his door with a trashcan in hand. He would soon learn that this occurrence would happen every night at 12 and last for exactly one hour. He would keep track of all the details and learn everything about this occurrence that he could. but even still, he remained defenseless and needed to learn more about this occurrence. Realizing that there was no point in taking the offensive, the man strapped himself in some makeshift armor that probably didn't even help much and made himself a small, lightweight 'shield' that he could use to protect himself. As far as he knew, these things couldn't be harmed and the entity 'Slime' while seeming to represent him, remained a very disturbing enigma. And so, young Takumi set off into the night every night in search of answers and hopes of ending this curse that had befallen him.
