Shadow City Overdrive 2: Shady Buggaloo (Party of 2;Tristan)

He'd had some degree of good fortune with his recent exploring through the Shadow-infested reaches of Sunshine City. Overall, he felt comfortable going through the region, even if it was a bit more dangerous than the park, museum, or neighborhood. But that was the typical fare with things that had weapons, magic, and strange monsters. It was bothersome, but that was also par for the course, considering that there had been a gigantic helldog recently. To date, that was an ogre, a weed, and a dog. What was next? A possessed mannequin spider entity? It was amusing in a very morbid sense. Disappointing, especially, though. Those things all defied common sense, and not just in terms of mass.

”Now then.” The boy hummed to himself, urging his mount further onward. The stores and food joints were all there. Technically, they were open for business. They were, however, severely understaffed in terms of functional employees at that moment in time. And customers, for that matter. It evened out. Now if only they were not so understaffed, and their “customers” would end up shrinking in supply. Then the situation would have improved. He wasn't being negative. Not terribly. He just wanted things to go back to normal.

”What's next?” He asked aloud, scanning the area. He wasn't one to steal items during that hour. Going into each store was a waste of time.

[Tristan Carter]

Tristan had been exploring a new area simply because he never had the chance to really see it during the day. He could look around the outside, sure. But he very rarely went indoors. He didn't really know where to go, though. He started simply looking around when he faintly heard a familiar voice. He couldn't tell who it was, but he could afford to look into it.

He searched the area before finding the healer boy from before. He hadn't seen the boy often, with the exceptions being big meetings. In fact, it almost seemed odd to find him on his own. Tristan could hear something approaching, though, so it wasn't quite time to socialize. He approached with a smile while still preparing his new toy.

He really looked forward to punching things with fire.

Well, this happened.

”Hoho.” Escaped Akira's lips as he noticed Tristan. ”I'd speak with you, but we seem to meet up like this too often. I trust you're doing well enough, if you're here, though. Try not to tank this guy, though.” And then a terrible pun appeared. And a tank. But mostly the pun. The boy leveled his spear before rolling his head around his shoulders. ”I'll poke around it a little. See how my attacks work. I don't expect much, though. If nothing else, I'll heal us as necessary.” He informed the other before riding in towards the tank.

The tank emitted some wave of energy. The boy felt as though he could strike a bit more viciously. Naturally, it probably applied to the enemy, as well. He swung the halberd, letting the blade screech over the top of the tank. It didn't seem very effective, causing him to click his tongue in annoyance. On top of that, the tank seemed to have auto-repair functions. Glorious. It seemed to charge itself for an attack. The boy thrust his spear, not expecting much and not getting much, before retreating. This was an example of what he shouldn't be fighting with his weapon. The tank, no doubt, was sturdy overall. It was more of magically vulnerable enemy, he was willing to bet. The tank let out a wave of destructive force that swept over the area! And damaged some stuff nearby. And the boy. In fact, it blew him off Hayagriva. It hit pretty hard, but it wasn't terrible.

”Test over. You can spell-spam it, or something.” The boy grunted with annoyance as he stood straight and had his Persona heal them both with Mediarama. Honestly, were he alone, he'd have fled.

Tristan smiled before giving the boy a nod of agreement. Then he noticed what had appeared: a tank. Tristan almost laughed at how ironic the timing was, but he decided against it with a bit of effort. The other boy attacked a bit before being attacked in turn. Nothing seemed to be doing much, but Tristan wasn't too worried. In his experience, something was either strong against physical attacks or magic. Very rarely both.

"Just to be sure," he said without looking at the other boy. He was too busy summoning Odysseus to turn around, as he still wasn't sure how aiming worked. "It's Akira, isn't it? Sorry, I'm generally terrible with names." He gave an embarrassed chuckle as teh tank was enveloped in a darkness so pure, Tristan thought he had thought he had developed tunnel vision. When he felt that it was still alive, Tristan cast the spell again.

The tank managed to fire off a powerful attack, and Tristan fell to a knee. He quickly gathered himself, though, and cast his spell again. The tank had vanished when the darkness dissipated, which Tristan felt was extremely lucky. That spell drained him far more than anything else he had felt. He was wheeling from casting it so many times, but he steadied himself when he realized something. He suddenly felt really sad and irritated at himself.

He never got to try out the fire gauntlet.
