Prime Time (Open, Party of three)

[Tristan Carter]

The young man stood in the middle of the overgrown park, long sword in hand. He was wearing a pair of dark jeans and a darker tee shirt. In his other hand, he held a seemingly dead cell phone. It's funny how this only doesn't work during this time, he thought to himself. It's certainly inconvenient. If this piece of junk worked, I'd probably be able to get a group together so they could work on their skills and teamwork. I doubt I'd be much use to them after that, though.

Tristan sighed, looking up at the huge moon. That's another thing that bothers me, he thought. Then, in a surprising fit, he started to shout. "Why the hell has everything taken on a different appearance? I can understand through the portals, but even in the normal city everything looks wrong!" He sat down and took a look around.

It was likely there were others who were exploring tonight. After all, there seemed to be a fairly decent amount of people who could access the dark world. Still, he shouldn't start to depend on that. Just one misstep, and the game would end for him.

He doubted that it would net him the good ending, either.

The steady tacking of a cane to the curb drew closer to the park. Jacob had decided to take another excursion into the overgrown mirror world. this time, he was wary of anything that moved, human-faced or not. The inhabitats of this world were more able at disguising their true selves after all. Even if their oftentimes agressive behaviour broke the facade long before they would close any sort of distance.

And then, he came upon some kid standing in the middle of a park. Jacob realized he was standinf out in the open. It was likely already too late to hide himself, and so he simply drew his gun and cautiously drew closer. The kid looked human,but that might very well be another trap of this place.

[Mitsuki]

So Mitsuki was walking home from a late night shift when she saw this strange portal like thing in the park. All of her instincts told her this had something to do with the strange things she had started to experience each night, including the one in which she was attacked. Her same instincts told her to get back and get some reinforcements. But by now she knew most people couldn't see these things and that if they could the probably would only get in the way. Without powers like hers, she didn't even knew what it was, they couldn't do anything. As was shown with her, without that power her bullets didn't damage it. So maybe it had something to do with this power. Well, only one way to find out. She readied her gun and stepped into the portal. Preparing to fire if necessary.

In the portal itself the sky was way different. While it was still dark, it didn't feel so serene in here. She could see a few people, but no signs of any kind of monster yet. Maybe they could have hid themselves and were laying an ambush somewhere. Keeping her gun ready she moved towards a young man who was only a few years younger that just seemed to stand in the middle of the park. She was on her guard, it wouldn't be the first time some monster got the jump on her.

And again, a sudden ambush by humanoids emerged. Seeing as the forces were moving towards both the lone boy and the woman suddendly emerging. With a sigh and a turn, Jacob oriented himself to face the advancing assailants. He remembered the discussion about the possibility of them being creatures of mythology, and how he had permitted that avenue of though at least a cursory examination. Quite apparantly, yhe creatures from last time, and the creatures of right now, did indeed look quite like mythological beings. Jacob didn't have an answer as to why this was so, but he refused to simply leave it at the age old excuse of 'forces one can't understand'

So lost in thought was he, that he only noticed the fireball sailing right at him at the last moment. He shifted to the side, as far as his lame leg allowed him to without falling over, and this at least saved him from the brunt of the blast. Still, what of the flames had touched his skin had left quite the painful burn. It wasn't anything that some ointment wouldn't cure, but it was still quite discomforting.

It was jacob's turn to react now though. Deciding that information would be key here, he drew forth the gun-like device and did the usual ritual of making a facsimile of suicide. He didn't quite need to exert much mental effort to pull the trigger lately funnily enough. Pretending to shoot himself through the head was becoming something of a habit.

The usual rush of information followed. Inexplicable knowledge of the enemies weaknesses filled his mind. Again, it was nothing he could make use of directly. Though there seemed to be one thing a majority of the opposition was weak against. 'Statistically, lightning would do the most damage to the current makeup of enemies. So if that's an option anyone has acces to, please go ahead and do that.'

Deciding it would be prudent to increase the statistical chance that a hypothetical lightning strike would hit a target most conductive of it, Jacob turned his gun on one of the enemis that were not weak, and possibly even resistant to the elemental fury of the skies. the familiar face of an elf would be the one he made fall today. The first shot went wide, and the waif responded with an attack of her own. A blistering wind cut past Jacob, throwing off his aim.Luckily, his glasses ahd stayed in place, and so he lined up another shot.

The second shot hit its mark quite nicely. The elf gripped her abdomen as a trickle of blood oozed out. A shot or two mre like that would probably do her in. Then though, she started singing. It seemed a strange thing to do, until jacob realized what terrible effect the song had. He found himself unnaturally tired. He could only barely keep his eyes open. And if he allowed himself to drift into some sort of supernatural sleep now, he would be easy pickings. And so, he concentrated, and shot once more.

He didn't need to look at the results. The surprised scream followed by a rattling gurgle told him all he needed to know.

Tristan turned, seeing that the creatures had come to him. Not only the creatures, but two people as well, both older than him. One of them, a man with a cane, started speaking about how the creatures were weak to lightning. Okay, the boy thought, He has the same ability as the Italian girl. That's something I can live with. Still, the boy found it sad that he was otherwise useless as far as weaknesses went. He summoned Odysseus anyway, targeting the tree looking creature and blasting it with darkness. "Hey," he called out to the two adults. "Now's not the best time for introductions, but I'm Tristan. Anyway, I'll be taking on the she-tree and the little goblin. Lady, I hope you can handle yourself well enough to get the other two."

Tristan jumped backwards to get a touch of distance between him and his targets. He summoned Odysseus mid-air, who swung his blade at the tree creature, cutting it in half along its midriff. He then turned to the goblin. "Well, you're ugly, ain't chya?" he asked it in English, curious to see how it would react. When it didn't seem affected by the insult, Tristan smiled. "Here, let me fix it for you. You'll look worse in no time!" With a laugh, he summoned Odysseus again, ho set the creature ablaze. The goblin reacted to that, cutting down with its claws while closing the distance between the two.

Tristan smiled, looking down at the creature. He was barely harmed by the attack, but his next attack would hurt the creature. Odysseus, appearing over the boy, glared at the goblin. He raised his hand, holding a ball of darkness that he then launched, full force at the creature. The goblin was engulfed in darkness and melted into it, dead.

More creatures and five of them. They weren't like the creature that attacked her last time but these seemed more human... But not like any human she had seen, except for maybe the one the older man shooting at. When she had a better look at them even that one didn't really look human. Her ears weren't even close. She heard the boy identify himself as Tristan. She wasn't sure if she actually could handle those two. She had been training hard lately to improve as her previous battle wasn't that great. She could ponder a while over what these things were, but for now she should go save those civilians.

It seems that she had two armed opponents, one with an axe, one with a sword. Quickly she shot the axe wielding goblin twice, a well aimed shot pierced a vital organ in the creatures belly. The buried itself into the hobgoblin's skull ending it's life. It was great that the bullets were actually working from the start of the battle.

She was to late to react to the wind based ranged attack of the dark skinned human-like creature. This shook her up a bit which created more then a few bruises on her left hand. Great, now Mitsuki could go explain how she gained those at work. There were still three bullets in her revolver She wondered if it would be enough to down the armored creature. She fired once and the shot pierced through it's armor but it didn't seem to do more than anger it. Of course not all of her shots could be fatal. It rushed to her in an attempt to swing her sword at her, she took this time to take a stance and aim really well for its head. Two bullets fired and while the first one flew away left from the target, the second one stopped the dark elf and pierced it's skull. She then summoned Hathor and healed her own wounds. 

"Good evening, Tristan. My name is Mitsuki Watanabe." She said tiredly. She just did a shift and fought strange creatures in here. But she had to leave soon. She had to work again tomorrow and she couldn't really afford to lose much time. Each second she was here was one less she could sleep. "I am terribly sorry, but I really need to leave now." She said as she started her journey to her own home. Tired and slightly wounded.
