Lucretia had not been looking forward to this day. School was bad enough on its own, but going to a fully Japanese school when her grasp on the language wasn't as good as she liked and had a very noticeable accent was not her idea of a good time. It was a fair distance away too, she was going to be forced to go onto one of those crowded trains just to even get there. Worst of all, it meant going outside for an extended period of time, and she was pretty sure she couldn't get away with carrying around an umbrella in this weather; it was much too sunny.
With a sigh, she grabbed her bag and headed out. As much as she would like to be late, she acknowledged that she shouldn't be. The ride there was far too long, but otherwise uneventful. It made it rather boring really. This was really going to be her daily commute? And she was really going to have to go to school on Saturdays as well? All of this was such a pain, how did these people even deal with it?
She had downloaded the floor plan onto her glasses computer, so finding her way around wasn't difficult. She was able to find her class in a matter of moments, and clearly got there sooner than the homeroom teacher expected. The teacher just told her to stay at the front until class started and then introduce herself. Lucretia rubbed her forehead. With as often as she moved, she was used to doing this, but it never ceased to irritate her. There was never anything to say and everyone looked just as bored as she did. It was so awkward.
Soon, the bell rang, and she wrote her name on the board in roman letters: 'Lu'...she caught herself before finishing writing her first name. This country was weird and did everything backwards for some reason, so the last name always came first. She erased the Lu with her hand and started again. 'Odovacar Lucretia.' She turned back to the class to introduce herself, but quickly realized that most of the students were trying to sound that out and had no idea what she just wrote. With a sigh, she turned back to the board and wrote some letters in katakana beside her name: "odobekaa rukuresha.' It practically killed her to write it like that, but whatever. if that's what it took to get these people to understand then so be it. Sadly, when she turned around, most people still looked like they were having difficulty reading what she wrote because her handwriting was that bad. This time though, she didn't have the patience to try to fix it.
"I am Lu-Odovacar Lucretia. Nice to meet you all," her voice was completely deadpan and somewhat irritated. She clearly didn't mean a word of it. "I got nothing else to say. Can I sit down now?"
The teacher nodded a little awkwardly and pointed to a seat in the middle of the room, near the back. At least it wasn't next to a window. She took her seat, slid her bag into the desk, put her elbow on the desk and rested her head on her hand. She was not pleased right now, and just wanted the lesson to start already.
