OOC Name: Opie
Notes: Kenji isn’t a disciplined fighter and has no formal martial arts training. Instead he brawls his way through fights with underhanded tactics, natural speed, brutal hay-makers and other no –holds barred street fighting maneuvers. A bit of a spoiled brat at heart who can be a bit manipulative but only to his family members. He also is a member of his high school's graphic design club.
Persona: (The name of your starting persona. Your starting persona should be something that is usually found somewhat early in the games. (1-39~ level range) We aren't too stingy about this, but don't go picking Satan as a starting Persona for example. If you are unsure about whether your persona qualifies, ask a staff member. Your persona can be one from the games, or can be something not made into a persona yet. Your persona should also match your character's arcana. Some persona may match up to multiple arcana; and as such I will not be too picky with what persona you choose under your arcana.)
Appearance: (A picture or description of your persona. Just make sure it doesn't stretch the page.)
Persona Lore: (This can be a description of what your persona is. Basically, what mythology or concept it stems from. You can keep this simple, or you may link an existing description of your persona.)
Skills: (Skills may be 'bought' at the Persona Shop to start with on your Persona. You will start with 1,000 Fate Points to spend on whatever you want. Please keep in mind any skill restrictions that the shop lists, however. Any unspent points will simply be added to your character's starting total upon acceptance. They may also be spent on equipment if you wish.)
Strengths and Weaknesses: (Your starter persona can have a resistance in anything in return for a weakness in anything. You must have at least one weakness and resistance, or you may have 2 of each. See the 'Explanation on Points and Progression' in the Getting Started section of the rules for details.)

Personality: Kenji’s personality contains various traits that only show up during specific points in time however these lesser traits surround the major ones that make up the bulk of his personality. One of these major traits at its core would be the fact that he struggles with showing regard for the feelings or desires of other people around him and usually gravitates to thinking more about himself. So he isn’t the kind of person who would help someone else without much of a problem. Usually when he does do something for someone else’s benefit then it is done with a certain amount of lag which is in contrary to when he is doing something solely for himself. In fact, if he sees any sort of goal that is even the least bit beneficial to him than that usually is all the drive he needs to get almost all the jobs required of him finished as efficiently as possible.
So he can be seen as a very hard working individual who would exhaust as many options as possible for himself and would even go as far as enduring more physically exhausting trials if the payoff is would make up for it. Now with that egocentric mindset came a lot of insecurities about his personality and his appearance. This is to the point where he shows much guilt for being so selfish and it is that guilt along with his insecurities that are the driving force behind his courteousness as well as put him in something of a constant intense conflict with what he wants and what is right and this conflict tends to wear him down emotionally. He takes much pride in showing the upmost respect to those around him, whether it would be his classmates or teachers and in being polite towards others, it helps him to focus so less on his own insecurities. Now Kenji can be very friendly to those inside his social circle and would even fight past his own selfishness to help those he truly cares about or most likely when that particular person’s situation is extremely dire.
The second major aspect of his personality would be the fact that he is very arrogant and it’s easy for him to believe that he is entitled to something great when that couldn't be farther from the truth. Now this arrogance of his tends to get him in situations that are beyond his ability to handle. Although he is shown to very well have the commitment and the drive not to make a complete fool of him, it still ends up happening anyway and when it does he will still not give up. A good example would probably be when he plays his video games with a friend and he gets beaten twenty times straight in a row.
Kenji will still believe he can beat that person twenty times in a row and keep trying until he does so. This ultimately leads to that friend not really wanting to play against him because he simply does not give up. That example also shows that he can be very stubborn; almost to the point where one would have to question his mental health based on how far he is willing to go to ultimately prove his worth and that he is as good at certain things as he thinks he is. Now he is has been in a lot of situations where his ego is absolutely crushed and when that happens, it brings forth a more bitter, resentful and overall aggressive side of him that he normally keeps behind closed doors.
This wrath filled side of him has makes him very confrontational, especially with his enemies and he has no problems starting a fight if winning it helps heal his bruised ego. When he is like this, he tends to forget a lot of the moral boundaries he so called prides himself in. Not only that but he isn't exactly in his right state of mind when he is completely unhinged and becomes somewhat nihilistic in his thoughts and rather foul mouthed too. This anger he has terrifies him the most and not only does he see it as something that isn't good for his image but especially not good for others around him, which is actually a big deal considering how selfish he could be. The anger also what compels him to want to distance himself from others. That looming fear of causing pain due to that anger normally kills his motivation to make friends when he is at school. All in all, he puts in the effort to be a pleasant and polite person but he is a natural at being a jerk.
Likes:
- Video Games, It’s an addiction really and his main source of entertainment. He also tends to use his games as crutch whenever he gets really angry on his lack of friends and it helps calm him down.
- Being at home, He enjoys the peace that comes from when he is in an environment where everything he enjoys is stationed in a single place so he can go about without worry. Just that is something he enjoys.
- Naps, it’s completely natural for a human being to get in his/her hours of sleep. This is something he loves to do when he isn’t working, playing video games or outside.
- Finishing Objectives, there is a sense of self that comes Kenji is able to finish objectives whether it is his homework or a night shift at his job.
Dislikes:
- Arguments. Although he has no problems with debates, when things start getting emotional then it tends to piss him off.
- Disruptions. Things that coming to disturb his peace and getting in the way of his self-satisfaction also tends to anger him.
- Being Underestimated. Kenji hates being told that he can’t do anything. All it really does is making him want to keep trying.
- Cramped areas. Yeah, being caught up in a bus with all these different people shoving into you is something that Kenji would like to avoid.
History: Aside from not knowing his father, Kenji grew up in an average middle class home with an older sister who took on the role of disciplining him in her father’s place where their mother would be unable to do. Being the woman that she was Kenji’s mother didn't have a single clue on how to raise her son but with steadfast determination did what she could to raise him. Though that would prove to be difficult since even when he was but a wee little thing, the Osagawa son had an abundance of anger issues. During his time in elementary school, he was a true trouble maker.
Stealing toys from the other children including his friends, causing fits when he didn't get his way, throwing the small tables around, getting into fights and generally being a real nuisance; his exploits worried his mother who once thought that her son had some sort of emotional issue. Although that would be proven to be false by Kenji’s therapist who worked with the child, there was no question that something needed to be done about his erratic behavior. By the time that Kenji would reach middle school, he became a tad bit more mature but still kept a short fuse and actually took a shine to manipulating others to get what he wanted.
Although Middle School wouldn't be so easy to get through as he once thought. You see, Kenji was rather short for his age and as a result he was the butt of many jokes and the target for many different bullies. Although at first it didn't seem to bother him but as those cretin’s methods became far crueler, the Osagawa son would quickly reach his boiling point. In an attempt to put an end to the constant harassment he would challenge one of his enemies to a fight and surprise, surprise. Kenji would get crushed but even after the first five falls, he kept trying to take this larger opponent down but with couldn't even scratch him.
The so called fight would continue until finally a teacher would catch them and the both of them would be suspended. Losing that battle enraged him and his anger would not be quelled even when he got home and with his sister in college at this time, no one would be able to subdue him other than the police. The fit continued until he began throwing chairs and ranting on how he should have won that fight because he had the balls to stand up to the pansy. Her mother tried to calm him down herself, refusing to see her son as an official juvenile but in his rage he would turn and accidentally back hand her which caused her to fall to the ground. Stunned at what he had just done, he looked down at his mother with eyes filled with tears and suddenly all of his anger had turned to regret. After he slowly took three steps away from his mother, he would fall to his knees and cry, apologizing for what he had done.
With a sigh, his mother would still embrace him and ask Kenji to promise that he’ll work toward changing his ways and get rid of his anger issues. He swore on his life that he would and from then on, Kenji had dedicated as much time as he could possibly muster to following the techniques his therapists suggest him to use, make it through middle school and succeed in life to become a true man that wasn't plagued by the evils of his own anger. By the time he reached high school, great strides have been made. New friends, new teachers and a reformed self but even Kenji knew that was still much work that needed to be done.
