Library Fight [Open; Party of Two]

It seemed Anne just couldn't get enough of the library.  Whether or not it was just because she really liked books or she was just peeved at not actually finding anything of worth here was still to be decided.  She already had a collection of untranslatable books at home, and apparently was preparing to add even more to that collection.  It just didn't make sense to her for all of this to be here and not actually provide anything in the way of answers.  Thankfully she managed to get some practice in from the last few demons she faced here.  Now all that she hoped for was for something to actually help in the long run.  For now, she paced quietly through the aisles, peering around cautiously for demons so she didn't get caught unawares.

Kate had wandered into this place without really knowing why. She just loved libraries and she couldn't resist. She wandered inside with her eyes bugged in amazement and curiosity. She wandered through the aisles of the library, scoping the place out for more foes and dared to check out some of the books.

All of them were in some strange script. She thought she recognized some Latin or Ancient Greek and some looked like Egyptian hieroglyphics... but it was really impossible to actually read them. She examined the illustrations in some of them but she put them back quickly, somewhat disappointed and plenty shaken up.

Something was unnatural about these books.

She poked her head around one massive bookcase and caught sight of a familiar face moving through the gloom. She stepped out of the aisle and approached her.

"Hey! Anne!" she called, not too loudly. "S'up girl?"

Kate drew her bow off her shoulder immediately when the demons approached.

"Keep your guard up! I'll take care of the ugly one and the chick!" she said. "Focus on the big guy!"

She immediately summoned Antiope and began her assault by targetting the butt-ugly guy and firing a dark arrow at him. It seemed to really hurt him as it knocked him flat on his ass. It gave the armored lady time to attack her, though and Kate had to guard against getting slashed with a sword. It hurt but she endured it and responded by having Antiope rush forward, swing her spear and catch both of them in her swing, knocking them backwards. With the ugly one still stunned from the compounded attacks, Kate took the time to nock another arrow and shoot out the ugly guy just as he prepared another attack.

The lady stood still and cast what was clearly a healing spell on her friend and herself, annoying Kate, who wanted to avoid a protracted battle. She turned and fired another arrow at her, just to find that it did nothing. The armored woman continued to assist her friend, by casting a bright light on him that appeared to make him faster.

"Great," she muttered. She had to eliminate this buffer.

Antiope cast a burst of flame at the woman, eliciting a shriek from her and Kate saw her chance. She grabbed her hammer and lunged, swinging hard while the ugly man laughed hysterically and cast a spell that created spectral chains around her. Antiope disappeared and Kate knew she couldn't summon her forth anymore.

That was fine. Her hammer hit the woman squarely and sent her reeling. A weakness! Good. Allowing the ugly bastard to take another shot at her, she was surprised to see him try to cast a burst of fire on her in vain. She focused on the woman, who swung her sword at her again. This time Antiope was there and her shield reflected the blow right back at the woman, who was finally felled at the end of Kate's burning hammer.

She turned to the ugly guy, just as he did a strange attempt at a seductive dance. It was cute, really, but Kate wasn't impressed. She grabbed her bow again and finished the ugly sucker off with arrows while enduring one more futile fire assault.

At the sound of the hushed but very familiar voice, Anne turned and grinned.  "Yo Kate!  It's been a while, I almost thought you were avoiding me,"  She laughed lightly.  Before either of them could make much in the way of conversation, it seemed their rendezvous had drawn attention.  Sighing, she shook her head and turned to look at their company.

"I dunno, they're both pretty ugly to me," she lifted an eyebrow, chuckling.  "I've face these guys before here, they're not too bad.  Watch out though, the chick is a support."  Just as she said this, she noticed that it seemed like Kate had already learned this the hard way.  Her eyebrows scrunched together sympathetically, but other than being a bit frustrated by it all she seemed able to handle herself.  Not that she was very surprised.

Turning back to her own big target, she cracked her knuckles before hurrying in to face him.  She managed to land a couple swift punches before it's hands began to spark.  "Nope, hell nope."  Instead of jumping away, however, she jumped towards it.  Reaching out, she grabbed onto one of the demon's big horns, using her momentum to swing so she was standing mostly on it's back after having spun it's head around slightly.  The flames it was preparing shot off harmlessly away from her, and to pay it back for it's attempted cheap shot she punched it hard in the back of it's head.  

Big bad demon screeched in pain for a moment before trying to shoot a blast of darkness over it's head at her.  While this one hit it's mark, so did her next punch─hard─sending her to the ground to land in a crouch as the demon she was taking for a piggyback ride disappeared.  "See?  Not too bad.  We should really get together somewhere less dangerous next time we meet, though."
