This will be just a list of things we want everyone to be clear on before they go and make their profiles.
Making your Character
Though not necessary, we highly recommend using a face-claim rather than original art. The reason we ask this is that you can use a face-claim's art to allow people to 'picture' your character better. It generally makes it a lot easier to imagine what's going on if you have a clearer idea on what the character look like. That said, if you have what you find to be a suitable number (of decent) art of an original character, go right ahead and use it.
Regardless of your face-claim, please choose a character that has anime/manga styled art. They could be from a video game, or something else entirely. All we ask is that they look like they fit visually with other anime-styled characters. No CGI art either, please. Your favorite Final Fantasy character has plenty of 2D art. Trust me.
While you may gain inspiration from outside sources for a new character, please do not copy and paste characters from other sources. By this, we mean grabbing a face claim, using the same exact name, and/or creating a history/personality that is nearly a replica of the original. This is lazy, for one. But more importantly, role-playing is for expressing creativity and interacting.
It goes without saying given our notes on god-modding and powerplaying, but please avoid making a Mary/Gary Stu. To put it simply, do not make a character who is absolutely flawless or has something overly special about him. There are plenty of things you can do to make your character interesting. Making a wish-fulfillment self-insert is not one of them. In fact, they are a big turn-off when looking for RP-partners. Put simply, we don't need special snowflakes.
Create an account for each of your characters. The display name for each account should be changed to your character's name. If you forget, it's no big deal, but you'll be asked to change it before the profile is approved.
Please link your character's profile and house (more on the house in the Getting Started section) in their custom fields after your app has been accepted and moved. This is so that people can get a quick look at your profile, persona, and skills. There is also a custom field for a plotter/social links if you choose to make one.
Changing your face claim after the character has been accepted is generally not allowed. The only time the staff really may make an exception is if the profile had just been accepted and no real interactions had taken place with them yet. Other than that, please be sure you're set on a face claim when the time comes to submit the application.
Edits to accepted profiles are not allowed unless approval is given by staff. This is to prevent people from changing their history/personality mid-RP. (Yes, we've seen someone do this before.) Applications are locked after they have been moved. If you just want to elaborate a bit on your character at a later date, feel free to send us what you want to add/change. The staff will be more than happy to help.
I would also like to note that we do not delete inactive accounts. We find this to be extremely counterproductive. Instead, if you go inactive with your character and wish to come back, feel free to just poke us on the cbox or send us a PM and we'll be happy to re-add your character to the face claim list and so-forth. No need to worry over your posts or content either. It's all safe.
