Kate is a socially awkward person. She's not inept, she's just not that great. She's an introvert. She doesn't do small talk. She needs something to focus on if she's going to talk about something. She's not cold, it just takes her times to get out of her shell.
Friends
Well, Kate could sure use some. She's only been in Tokyo for a few months and other than a couple of passing acquaintances, she hasn't got any friends other than the people she chats and games with online.
Enemies
Kate's fortunate enough to not have these so far. However, her lack of social skills might bring out a few of them in others.
Lovers
Kate's very open about sexuality and doesn't mind at all discussing these matters but she's terrible at reading romantic cues and isn't the most expressive person in the world. It'll take a while to get her to express her feelings if someone catches her eye.

She's really good with her fists and a cool head for action but she seems to have an issue with fire. I hope my own affinity for it doesn't bother her!

Kate has a serious problem: She hasn't written anything substantial in months and it's turning into a major stressor for her. She can no longer face the blank white page of paper or word processor without panicking. Her confidence as a writer is in the toilet. Like any writer worth their salt, when faced with her inner demons about her craft, Kate turns to the old faithful: booze. While she's likely to pull a Hemingway and do something incredibly stupid, (like, go fighting Shadows while drunk off her butt) the experience might sober her up and make her realize that she can't let her writer's block rule her life. Someone dropping an encouraging line or two about her talent might help, too. This whole thing might help her realize some things about herself...
