Name: Aiden Sakamoto
Age: 19
Date of Birth: July 23rd
Birthplace: Obu, Nagoya, Japan
Gender: Cis Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Face Claim: Hisamitsu Noto from Toradora!
Appearance:
Height: 5’9”
Distinguishing Features: Hair is slightly longer, almost always has over-ear headphones hanging around his neck or on his ears.
Class: Civilian
Arcana: Temperance
Occupation: Student at Waseda University studying Mechanical Engineering
Starting Equipment: N/A
Personality: Struggles with anxiety and depression, means well but has a hard time interacting with people, especially new people. Starting conversations is really hard for him, but he's been getting better at forcing himself to talk to new people. That doesn't make him much more comfortable when doing so, though. He has an older brother, Logan, who helps him be more outgoing, but Aiden still struggles to find a balance between these aspects. Has a short temper when it comes to people he cares about being hurt in some way. Fiercely protective of relatives and the few friends he has. Usually has headphones on when walking around.
A lot of his free time outside of class is spent going on walks and listening to music. He likes to have a good mental map of where he is, so he generally winds around roads he has and hasn't been down to connect everything. It's a gradual way of getting himself more comfortable with the crowded city he's living in.
He also loves playing board and video games, and gets incredibly competitive when doing so. He's more talkative when playing games than almost any other time, and is probably one of the easiest ways to get closer to him. The less he thinks about himself, the happier he normally is.
Aiden is a good listener and always happy to provide some sort of advice if he can. If not, just being an emotional crutch makes him happy. Really, helping others is one of the biggest things that makes him happy, and he'll more easily approach and start conversations if he's offering help to someone who looks like they need it. Seeing someone who needs help almost makes him forget about his anxiety, and his desire to help takes over.
If he gets overwhelmed, he has a tendency to lock himself up in his room, put on his headphones, and ignore everything for a while. He's difficult to contact, and barely even takes care of himself, which can make this a bad cycle to fall into. He normally works his way out of it eventually, but it can take a long time. This can also be triggered by him inadvertently hurting someone he was trying to help. The most minor mistakes will stick in his mind, so actually physically or emotionally hurting someone he didn't mean to can spark this self-hatred, too.
Likes: Music, video and tabletop games, hugs, listening, helping people.
Dislikes: Sudden loud noises, angry people, massive crowds, loved ones being hurt, usually himself.
History: Growing up, Aiden had a generally plain life. Since he was young, he's struggled with serious anxiety and dreads speaking to people he didn't know. It was easy to find him stuck to his older brother, Logan, who was much more outgoing and social than he ever was. When not able to be near his brother at school, he was bullied frequently. He never really stood up for himself, and did his best to just ignore everything that was thrown his way. This led to him having a very low self esteem and very low standards for himself. The only time he'll really stand up and get angry is when he sees a loved one in that sort of situation, or someone that seems to be being picked on for no good reason. What he doesn't do for himself, he'll do for others.
After high school, he was a little bit better about his anxiety, but not by a really substantial amount. Since his parents always told him he would, Aiden decided he'd go to university and seek a degree. He always had a bit of a talent for math and mechanical things, so he decided to pursue Mechanical Engineering. To push his boundaries and comfort zone as well, he decided to attend Waseda University in Tokyo. He was definitely bad with crowds, but that was part of the reason. He needed to make new friends, and not rely on his brother so much, who had already left for university a few years prior.
Still adjusting to University life and life in a more crowded space, Aiden is doing okay. Gradually making progress with both his personal issues and school work, he's oblivious to all the supernatural events happening around him in his new home.
OOC Name: Bukkarooo. I'll usually use either that or Aiden in the cbox.
Notes: I might make him a User eventually, but I'm sticking to Civilian for a while to get my rp-legs back!
