Name: Hiro Kazuma
Age: 18
Date of Birth: March 3rd
Birthplace: Mizuho, Japan
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Face Claim: Noiz from Dramatical Murder
Appearance:
Height: 5'8"
Distinguishing Features: Hiro's body holds no further secrets. What you can see is what you get.
Class: Persona-User
Arcana: Moon
Occupation: Student; Amateur Boxer
Starting Equipment: Hiro usually carries around a pair of boxing gloves with him. Most of the time that he isn't wearing them, they're hidden away in his bag. Not because he gets into random brawls on the street at a moment's notice, he just likes having them around. Consider it a good luck charm. They're level two and deal striking damage.
Personality: Despite his thugish appearance, Hiro is actually very shy and socially awkward. It can often lead to terrible situations due to a number of misunderstandings, such as his habit of staring when nervous being taken as a threatening glare or challenge. He also has a problem with saying what he means. If he were to think something along the lines of 'This girl shouldn't stand in the middle of the hallway. Someone might bump into her by accident and she could get hurt.'; what comes out of his mouth may well be something like 'Get out of my way. Or else.' The situation with those close to him is a little better. The more comfortable he feels around someone, the more he can open up, which lets him speak his mind more easily and avoid misunderstandings.
Because of his difficulty of interacting with other people, especially those his own age, he spends a lot of his free time taking care of the stray animals in his neighborhood, and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Unfortunately the animals aren't always as happy to see him as he is them so it isn't uncommon for him to be sporting an assortment of bandages and gauze pads tapped to his face and arms. Which doesn't help the popular rumor that he frequently gets into gang related brawls.
Although he has an issue with anxiety, Hiro rarely shows his emotional state through expressions. It leads many to believe that he's stoic in the face of any danger but that's far from the truth. However, he is able to keep a clear head when the chips are down, so he doesn't let his feelings get in the day if something must be done.
Likes: First and foremost, Hiro loves boxing. The actual fight itself is perhaps the least exciting part for him. It's the training that he enjoys the most, it helps him focus and serves as a reminder that he's still working towards an overarching goal in life. After that is probably his love for animals. Between boxing and volunteering, that eats up most of his free time. But aside from that he does have a great affection towards yakisoba-pan and bean buns. Especially red.
Dislikes: Hiro's primary dislike are people who would abuse animals for their own amusement. But aside from that, he dislikes 'popular' music in favor of the real old timey stuff. One could be forgiven for thinking that he is in fact an old man trapped in a boy's body. He also has a dislike of loud noises and bean sprouts. Ugh.
History: Hiro's life story isn't very notable nor exciting. He was born to a single mother, his father having been a US soldier stationed at the Yokota Air Base, which was the origin of his curse. The curse being his naturally sharp gaze and blonde hair that people believe is dyed, marking him as a delinquent. His childhood was pretty average, aside from the fact that his mother moved frequently as a result of Hiro always getting into trouble at school. The mere fact that he looked different from everyone else was taken as a provocation by some of the more aggressive children.
This continued well into his teenage years. But then things started to change. One of the school counselors suggested that Hiro take up boxing to work off some of his aggression. Of course, the suggestion hadn't been made in good faith- the counselor, like many before him, assumed that Hiro was the cause of his own difficulties. Still, he chose to look into it and eventually took it up as a hobby. By twelve, he joined an amateur boxing league and did quite well for himself, eventually winning a regional tournament albeit under an alias in an attempt to keep attention off of himself. When it was eventually discovered that Hiro was actually the champion, the other children started to avoid him. And as such, the constant stream of challenges and ambushes came to a sudden halt.
Just before he started high school, his mother moved them yet again. But this time, at least, it was unrelated to Hiro himself. His mother had managed to redeem herself in the eyes of her father as she'd fallen out of favor with him after the affair with the foreigner. His son, her brother, had ended up dying in a car accident... which left Hiro as the sole living heir to the family business and provided his mother with a valuable bargaining chip. So, off to Tokyo they went. Things were pretty uneventful there. Hiro still kept to himself and now that his peers were older and wiser, they let him be. When he turned eighteen he applied for a license to become a professional boxer, which he received. Everything seemed to be going great. But that's when the nightmares started.
Hiro was coming home late from working as a cashier at the 100 Yen store down the street from where he lived. He was supposed to have been out by ten, but the owner needed his help with sorting the inventory so he spent some more time there than usual. That was the first mistake. The second mistake was keeping his eyes locked on the street even when the heavy thumping rang out behind him. The force of the blow at his back was enough that it spun Hiro around to face his attacker. An amorphous blob, thorns creeping out of it's eldritch form and winding around the mask in the center of it's body like a slow buzzsaw. There were no words for the impossibility of the creature's existence. So Hiro did the sensible thing. He ran. Other monsters appeared, crawling out of every dark crevice to claw and whip at his body, tearing into his soft flesh. His memory of the incident is foggy, but all he knows is that he somehow managed to make it back to his house and barricade himself inside. The cuts covering his body were messy but shallow- they would heal quickly if nothing else. As the adrenaline started to dissipate, Hiro's vision grew dark. But in this state he had a moment of clarity. There was a woman, standing in front of him. He raised an arm towards her, muttering a name... and then he slumped back against the wall, unconscious.
OOC Name: Howl
Notes: Hiro doesn't actually have any piercings. He started wearing the earrings and other accessories to add to his intimidation factor to get people to leave him alone, but was too terrified of needles to actually get prodded so he settled for clip/stickons.
He owns a stuffed rabbit named Busley and can't sleep well without it.
His grandfather is the head of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Japan and has offered Hiro a lucrative position under him with the intent for the boy to take over one day. But it came with one condition. Hiro has to earn five million yen before the age of twenty-one through his own efforts to prove his worth. 'The future lies not with the job, but the man who holds the job.'
