Food Study [OPEN, party of 2]

Lucretia was continuing her investigation on the types of creatures that spawn in various areas of the midnight world.  She already had a pretty good idea of what spawned here in general--that is, lots and lots of food-based creatures--but she wanted to take a full stock of the area and do some critical analysis of the place still.  Because she wasn't deliberately looking for this kind of thing the last few times she was here, it's entirely possible that she could have missed something subtle, but important.  Thus, she felt like it was important to do a proper investigation.  She intended to revisit the museum later as well.

Maybe this time she could manage to sneak off some produce without being caught in the act. Kate wandered into the supermarket once more, bow in hand and determined to deal with things. If someone caught her rifling through vegetables again, well... she'd just tell them barefaced that she was a starving artist and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Or, er, whatever the Japanese equivalent of that was.

The smell in the air of the market was kind of damp and heavier than usual today and she made a mental note of that. Who knew what that meant but it certainly was a noticeable change. That foul taste of the air was still there, too. Kate had come to associate that with the presence of monsters.

As she plodded on past the dry goods isle, Kate caught sight of another person and curious, went to investigate. She remembered seeing her before but never quite caught her name.

"Hello? Are you alright over there?" she asked politely. "I've seen you here before, are you looking for something? Want some help?"

Lucretia sensed the other person for some time now, but didn't really think anything of it.  People wandered around these areas quite frequently, and after the last time she tried to ask someone why they were there her brain nearly fizzled out from the answer, so it was just better not to know at this point.  The person ended up approaching her however.  Lucretia could tell she was just trying to be nice and helpful, but her tone came off as just condescending.

"Sure," she pushed up her glasses.  "I am studying the creatures here.  Please kill those ones over there so I can just observe and look at others."

She spoke in the other person's head rather than speaking out loud.  It was just easier that way.  Her accent was still very thick though.  She wished that telepathy would make that go away.

Kate tilted her head at the girl a little bit, upon hearing her request but then she nodded. "I see. Sure, I can try. Mind yourself though, I've seen them switch targets on a whim."

Had the girl really spoken to her... telepathically? Kate told herself it was probably a Persona thing. It was the simplest explanation and it satisfied her Occam's-Razor sensibilities when it came to these things.

Kate readied her bow and looked between these creatures. She'd seen these kinds before and although it was a three on one situation, she was rather confident that she could deal with them. She turned her attention to the scale thing first, recalling that they had healing capabilities.

She summoned Antiope and the amazon charged the monster, cutting it down with her spear and knocking it back against a wall. Kate was staggered by a frost attack from the blob thing - those things did so like to gang up on her, didn't they? The floating one charged her in a dive-bomb like assault but Kate managed to dodge that by ducking under it and nocking her arrow. She'd gotten better at nocking arrows and firing on the move and she was quite proud of the fact.

She turned and launched the arrow at the floating thing, pushing it away from her as it came up from the dive, then turned around, nocked another arrow and fired at the balance again. At her command, Antiope released a wide wave of fire that blasted all of them backwards, but affected the goo the most. It was knocked flat on the ground, as if it was deflating, dazed. Kate fired an arrow at it to keep it busy while she nocked another arrow and then yet another and fired them at the balance. Both times the thing was staggered and one last arrow successfully finished it off just as it directed a blast of condensed darkness at her.

Kate was hit but bounced back right away despite being sore all over. The refreshing feeling that welled up in her was keeping her going every time she moved and she directed her attention to the goo. It was getting weak so even though it directed a frost attack at her, Kate weathered it, grit her teeth and fired another couple of arrows at it, killing it when the arrows cracked the mask.

She finally turned to the floating thing just at it summoned lightning to strike her. Lightning! Indoors!

Wait, why am I surprised? she thought and just cringed when the spark hit her. She shook her head, dazed and ordered Antiope to attack it with a heavy-handed slash of her spear while she nocked another arrow and fired at it. It was knocked to the ground and Kate finished it off with another arrow to the mask.
