Supermarket Sweep [Open/Party of 3]

Of course the stores were still open. This shouldn't be that surprising. It's not like the locks would keep anything out right now. If the lights and cameras didn't work for the whole hour, nothing was stopping anyone from running in here and taking as much food as they could carry. Except the shadow monsters, but somebody up this late could deal with them. No police officer could prove anything unless you were stupid and took too long.

Yumina realized that she had been fantasizing about getting something to eat for too long. She shook her head and tried to find another topic to think about. No matter how convenient it would be, stealing is wrong. After enough times the business would go lose money and have to go bankrupt. People would lose their jobs. Although, this was probably run by a larger corporation, so it's not like they couldn't afford to lose--

"No!" She slapped herself in the face (with the hand not holding a weapon.) "That's not happening. Get over it." For as much as she hated absolutes, this was one of the few situations it was allowed. No taking anything out of here. No eating it and leaving the boxes inside. The only thing happening tonight, is the premeditated murder of a couple evil beings. That's all. No distractions.

The results of her last investigation were in: stuff stayed broken if it was broken by users in the midnight world.   The next step was to see if it would stay broken if the creatures of the other world broke it.  The fight with the dinosaur at the museum suggested that it was entirely possible that the world repaired itself from creature-related destruction.  It would make some sense at least.  It would explain why no one besides persona users ever noticed anything about this world.  But speculation was pointless, the only thing that would let her know the answer for sure was an on ground investigation.

[Kate Minola]

Kate had wandered out again at night and made her way to the market once more. She was embarrassed to admit to herself that she was exploiting the Dark Hour to get some things that were a little more expensive for free. Not a lot, just a box or two. It was theft but Kate told herself this was sort of payment for services rendered - after all, she did kill the freaks that wandered in the supermarket at night! Besides, God knew she spent enough money at this place as it was.

She gingerly made her way through the isles, looking around at various offers in the dry/canned goods department when she heard someone talking. And the distinctive sound of a slap. She hurried on and turned the corner to see a young girl - oh, she'd met her before, at the orient museum. Yumina, wasn't it?

"Hey, what's up? Yumina, right? We met at the museum. Are you okay?" she asked, approaching her.

Lucretia wasn't sure whether it was a good or a bad thing that other people were around.  On the one hand, they'd be able to help her clean up when she was done with the creatures, on the other, they might kill them before she was ready.  She was going to have to think fast. 

She grabbed a few food products off the shelf behind her and tossed them at a couple of the shadows to get their attention.  They started attacking, and as usual, Lucretia wasn't having much luck dodging their attacks.  She was cursing at herself for her ineptness, and her inability to get these things to break something.  One wouldn't think it would be that hard, but sadly her face was the only thing taking damage here.  

Then, suddenly, the wheel creature rammed right into her, sending her flying into the shelf behind her.  It was very thoroughly broken, but would it count?  Technically it broke because she hit it, even if the creature was what caused her to hit it.  As she was getting up, the shadow ran over part of the in-tact shelf next to her.  Perfect!  This would be an excellent text.  The shadow broke something and caused her to break something.  She just needed to come into the store in the morning to assess the damage.

So there was no need to keep dancing around anymore.  Lucretia healed herself and then helped her allies finish off any that remained.

Kate spun around at the first noise of battle - several crashes and cracks. She caught sight of four Shadows attacking another girl, a familiar face with glasses. Kate remembered seeing her before but never quite got her name.

"Look out!" she said sternly and readied her bow.

She fired a couple of arrows at the Shadows, catching booth the gooey-looking thing and the weird wheel-like one. In response, the thing that looked like scales seemed cast something that perked every Shadow up a bit.

"That looks like a heal," she muttered. "Better take that thing out first."

And indeed she fired another arrow at it, then summoned Antiope to attack it with a slash from her spear. The balance was jolted but not staggered and Kate clicked her tongue and repeated the attack. Before the attack connected, the thing hit her with a weird ball of darkness that stung - and then she was knocked flat on her ass by a blast of frost from the goo thing.

She let loose a very vulgar word - fortunately in Greek, so nobody knew how nasty it was! She got back up with a cringe and shook frost off her. So icy attacks really, really hurt! She was starting to get the gist of what she and her Persona did and didn't get along with. The balance thingie looked like it was about to drop another healing surge and Kate decided it couldn't be allowed to do that. She fired an arrow right at it and then managed to squeeze in a second shot, distracting it long enough for Antiope to blast it with fire.

It killed it off, but then Kate had to deal with a second assault of ice from the goo, which knocked her down once again. She scrambled to her knees and spontaneously, fired an arrow at it from a knelt position - she'd never quite tried that before but she pulled it off beautifully and the arrow struck the thing squarely in the eye of the mask. It bought her enough time to get up properly and command Antiope to attack it again, just as she was hit by a cutting attack. Kate cursed again and watched Antiope return the favor to the thing and knock it backwards. Kate nocked another arrow, took careful aim and just as the creature was surging back, she fired, hitting the goo in the mask and cracking it.

"Ah, It's you guys." Yumina never expected to run into any familiar faces during these dark times. They did live in a big city with plenty of other places to be. Yet here stood scanner girl and archer lady. It took a minute to recall the correct names for the non-natives, and by the time she gave up on one, Kate had asked a question.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just looking around, same as usual." No need to let them in on her moral problems. Appearances were important and all. As usual, playing by most of the rules put her in a good mood. It's not right to cheat the system. Although, would it count as stealing if she left enough money on the counter before leaving?

Save the questions for later. The food themed enemies already assembled themselves across the aisle. After the wheel took off rolling, the closest opponent was some weird thing with a crown. Yumina slowed it down with the cast of a spell before moving in to attack. The monster wiggled around and blasted her with electricity, which didn't hurt as much as it knocked her off balance. She leaned up against the nearest aisle to keep from falling over.

A second bolt of lightning came flying overhead, as if it was aiming for someone twice her size. Watching her magic actually have an affect on a monster always brightened her mood. Yumina got in a few hits before getting struck by another resisted blow. As soon as she realized at least one injury started to bleed, a short wave of healing kept her from worrying about it. Her allies had already stopped fighting. Thrusting her knife into the shadow thing one more time finished it off for good.
